Welcome to my world of storytelling through paint and pencil.
Here you’ll find artwork inspired by fairytales, folklore and nature, from children’s stories to myth and magic.
About

Hello! I’m Sue Rundle-Hughes, a Welsh artist and illustrator living in the beautiful Wye Valley with my husband and our four dogs. I love telling stories with my art, drawing inspiration from fairytales and folklore, castles, animals, and nature. Living where I do, it’s only a short walk to a castle or woodland, so there’s never any shortage of inspiration and the local crows often join me on a walk too!

Before turning to illustration, I studied Costume Design for the Theatre at Bournemouth Arts University. I soon realised I preferred working with a pencil rather than a needle.
I can work both in both traditional and digital media, but prefer acrylic, ink, graphite pencil, and sometimes watercolour. I work from my art studio in my attic, where my dogs keep me company and my feet warm.

When I'm not drawing, I'm in the garden or browsing bookshops with my husband in Hay-on-Wye, my favourite place.
If you are interested in my illustrations, I sell prints, greeting cards and bookmarks of my whimsical world in my online shop.

Thank you so much for visiting my website. I hope you enjoy exploring my world of art and illustration.
